Maersk Tankers sale creates new VLCC behemoth

Euronav's acquisition of the 15 supertankers from Maersk Tankers results in the establishment of the world's largest VLCC pool collaboration among the six carriers in Tankers International.

With Maersk Tankers' sale of the carrier's VLCC fleet of 15 ships to Belgian Euronav, the large-scale and just two years old  pool collaboration in the company Nova Tankers A/S stands to see its size cut in half, from the current 30 down to just 15. Instead, rival Tankers International, whose founders include Euronav, will see its pool expanded with the newly acquired supertankers from Maersk.
