
The international association of tanker carriers, Intertanko, praises the IMO's Marine Environment Protection Committee, MEPC, for finally acting on the major problem with poor bunker in the shipping industry. But the association also points out that the steps taken by the IMO must only represent the beginning, as far clearer and stricter regulations are required for the uncontrolled market.
"We welcome this decision. However this is only the beginning as we believe that control of compliance should be transparent along the entire supply chain," says Intertanko Managing Director Katharina Stanzel.
