Intertanko: IMO bunker initiative only first step

Intertanko praises the IMO for acting on the problem with poor bunker quality, but stresses that this must merely represent the first step, as the issue calls for tighter regulations.

The international association of tanker carriers, Intertanko, praises the IMO's Marine Environment Protection Committee, MEPC, for finally acting on the major problem with poor bunker in the shipping industry. But the association also points out that the steps taken by the IMO must only represent the beginning, as far clearer and stricter regulations are required for the uncontrolled market.
