Nordic Tankers CEO: New venture will give us the right size

The new collaboration between Nordic Tankers and Crystal Pool represents a logical consequence of the weak markets, and solo investments in newbuildings would have been irresponsible, Nordic Tankers CEO Per Sylvester Jensen tells ShippingWatch.

The newly announced joint venture with Borealis Maritime will give Nordic Tankers as well as the Borealis-owned Crystal Pool a necessary critical mass in the Baltic Sea and Northwest Europe, which neither of the two companies has today, Nordic Tankers CEO Per Sylvester Jensen tells ShippingWatch.

The new Crystal Nordic A/S will control a fleet of 15 ice-class chemical tanker vessels in the 4,000-11,400 dwt range. Nordic Tankers will supply 11 while Crystal Pool will supply four vessels, though these are also largest in the fleet.
