EU strategy recommends LNG import from the US

Liquefied natural gas from the US will help reduce Europe's dependence on Russian gas, says the EU Commission. This is good news to gas carriers in particular, but there are numerous obstacles blocking the path.

"The EU has a major opportunity to improve its energy security and its competitiveness thanks to the positive development of the global LNG market," noted the EU Commission on Tuesday when it presented its so-called winter package for the energy sector, the main goal of which is to reduce Europe's dependence on Russian gas.
