Maersk Tankers is a bright spot in dire shipping market

After many years with major losses, Maersk Tankers is now one of the bright spots during tough times at the Maersk Group. An independent tanker carrier is probably not on the drawing board, though, as investors are currently shying away from even the profit-making tanker carriers.

For a long time, Maersk Tankers has been the light at the end of the tunnel for the conglomerate.

While the oil price-roller coaster was a disaster for the oil division, it gave strength to the group's product tanker carrier which belongs to the company's fifth business unit, APM Shipping Services.
