Deutsche Bank eyes benefits to Star Bulk's large scrubber investment

Dry bulk shipping company Star Bulk has ordered scrubbers for more than 20 of its ships and is well positioned for the upcoming global sulfur directive says Deutsche Bank. But not all shipping companies have the same advantage.

Star Bulk's order for 22 scrubbers will likely not be the last, concludes Deutsche Bank in a new analysis outlining the benefits to the company's large-scale investment in scrubber systems.

Deutsche Bank also notes that Star Bulk is well positioned ahead of the global sulfur directive in 2020, from which date ships are not allowed to emit more than 0.5 percent sulfur unless they have scrubbers installed.
