Wallenius Wilhelmsen reports triple-digit million-dollar deficit

Norway's Wallenius Wilhelmsen saw its result dive by more than USD 300 million in the first quarter, in which the coronavirus has put the industry in "an unprecedented situation." Volumes could be halved in the second quarter, the car carrier estimates.

Car carriers are currently hit hard by the corona crisis and a considerable drop in freight volumes that has caught the industry in "an unprecedented situation."

That is the assessment of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Chief Executive Craig Jasienski regarding the first quarter, in which the Norwegian RoRo shipping line has seen a significant setback from the corona crisis and a generally weaker car market.
