Several container shipping companies' offices destroyed in Beirut

Hapag-Lloyd's office in Beirut "was completely destroyed" in Tuesday's explosion, while Maersk's office in the port is also severely damaged. Three employees at Maersk were lightly injured, while all Hapag-Lloyd's employees got out safely.


The massive explosion in Beirut's port Tuesday has also affected some of the world's largest container shipping companies, where one employee at France's CMA CGM has been confirmed dead.

Germany's Hapag-Lloyd is also present in Lebanon's capital, and the company's office in the city is "completely destroyed", but all employees and representatives are safe and doing well, the shipping company says in an announcement to its customers.
