Number of armed assaults on ships in Asia decreased in 2021

Although 82 armed assaults on merchant ships took place in Asia in 2021, this is a decrease by 15 percent compared to the previous year, shows annual report by Recapp ISC. In the Singapore Strait, developments are headed in the wrong direction.

Crime at sea in Asia decreased last year, shows Recapp ISC's annual report.

The security organization registered 82 cases of armed assaults on ships, covering 77 assaults and five attempted assaults, the report informs.
