CMA CGM to lower freight rates – but only for domestic customers

The world’s third largest container carrier responds to the French Ministry of Finance’s call by lowering container rates by approximately 10% for French retail chains, writes Reuters.

The world’s third largest container carrier, CMA CGM, aims to lower freight rates for major French retail chains in an attempt to combat large price increases in the domestic market.

Effective Aug. 1, French chains will pay EUR 500 less for a 40-foot container filled with consumer goods being imported into France, the company writes in a press release cited by news agency Reuters.
