Carriers ordered a huge number of new tankers last year

Shipping companies and shipowners put the brakes on new ship orders in 2023 – except for two segments, according to Vessels Value.

The booming tanker market, which has sent tanker operators’ earnings skyrocketing over the past two years, has made these carriers dramatically increase their orders for new ships, according to a report compiled by the ship database Vessels Value for ShippingWatch.
