Even though the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) of the EU Parliament voted for Carl Schlyter’s scrapping proposal, there is still a long way to go. At the moment, the Swedish rapporteur for the committee is working to get the proposal on the agenda in Strasbourg next week so that he can negotiate with the Council of Ministers, which according to Schlyter has a good and important synergy under the Irish EU presidency.
