
Lars Christiansen and Uffe Østergaard, both of whom have spent more than 20 years with Maersk Line, have been promoted to chief trade officer and chief commercial officer, respectively, at United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), joining the senior management of the carrier, one the 20 largest in the world. The company already has one Dane in CEO Jørgen Hinge.
At the same time, the shipping company is moving its European headquarters from London to Hamburg, in order to get closer to its customers, says the carrier, which has its corporate headquarters in Dubai. The Arabian container carrier is also opening a new branch in Istanbul, Turkey, in an effort to take part in the rising activity in the Mediterranean.
