The Danish government was most likely very pleased when Thai bulk shipping company Thoresen Thai Agency announced, just before the new year, that it plans to open an office in Copenhagen. Getting foreign shipping companies to Denmark has long been a priority for the government, and former Minister for Business and Growth Ole Sohn (Socialist People's Party) visited Asia on several occasions to promote Denmark during his time in office. Since January 1st, subsidiary company Thoresen Shipping Danmark has had its home on Tuborg Boulevard, alongside shipping companies such as Norden and Torm. The Thai shipping company, which primarily operates on the Asian market, hopes that the Danish subsidiary will help secure it a better position on the Atlantic market.
