Former Head of Bimco: Let shipowners dictate the rates

Torben Skaanild, resigning Secretray General of Bimco, says that the EU's decision in 2008 to ban price fixing in the container industry has been harmful to both shippers and shipowners.

Reintroduce the conference system to container shipping and let shipowners work together to determine the rates and distribute capacity, says soon-to-be former Secretary General of maritime organization Bimco, Torben Skaanild, at a conference in London, the International Maritime Industries Forum, according to Lloyd's List.
