The IMO plenary has just approved the resolution for the ballast water convention without comments, Anne Skov Strüver, section chief at the Danish Maritime Authority, tells ShippingWatch.

The ballast water convention was adopted back in 2004, but has not come into force yet. 30 countries will need to ratify the wording before the convention can be finalized and come into effect. This condition has already been met.
