MSC behind biggest fleet expansion in 2013

Maersk Line's closest rival, MSC, was responsible for the biggest fleet expansion in 2013, while Maersk Line is in the process of returning a large number of ships to their owners.

The second largest container carrier in the world, MSC, gained ground on Maersk Line in 2013 in terms of capacity.

During the past 12 months the Swiss-based container carrier performed a 146,700 teu net expansion of its fleet, corresponding to seven percent, which represents the biggest fleet expansion among the world's Top 20 container carriers, according to Alphaliner.
