Bimco: Chinese economy in balancing act

The overall growth in China looks healthy, says Bimco in a new analysis, pointing out that shipping could be hit by structural changes in the short term.

China is in the midst of a difficult balancing act. The country has to change its economy from depending on investments and exports to being increasingly tied to China's own consumption, and this act could impact shipping on the short term, says Bimco in a new analysis.

And even though the country's growth rate has reached its lowest level in 18 months, with 7.4 percent in the first quarter, things are not all bad, according to Bimco:
