
DFDS' management, represented by the shipping and logistics group's French Managing Director Jean-Claude Charlo and Peder Gellert Pedersen, Executive Vice President in Copenhagen, has met with the French Ministry of Transportation. The meeting took place on May 28 - on the initiative of DFDS - where the carrier met with François Lambert, special advisor to the French Minister of Transportation, Frédéric Cuvilliers, responsible for sea transport.
"There are numerous things on the agenda for France, and there's been the entire debate about conditions on the English Channel, which has often been presented as a case that was run by DFDS against MyFerryLink. But this is in fact a case being pursued by the British Competition Commission, in which we of course have certain interests and where we've played a part," Head of Communications at DFDS, Gert Jacobsen, tells ShippingWatch, referring to the case against the Eurotunnel-controlled ferry operator established on the remains of carrier SeaFrance, which went bankrupt in 2012, causing a great stir and drama among the French employees of the company.
