Alphaliner: Significantly more idle ships in coming weeks

There is significantly more free container tonnage than just 14 days ago, says analyst firm Alphaliner. Overcapacity looks set to continue until at least October.

Overcapacity continues to pose a challenge for the container sector.

Among container ships, overcapacity has risen in August for all ships in the size range of over 500 teu, according to Alphaliner’s latest analysis of the container market.
