Cosco will radically overhaul shipping alliances

If an alliance between new major Chinese carrier China Cosco Shipping Corporation and French CMA CGM emerges, it could bring Evergreen Line and Orient Overseas Container Line along with it and thereby pull the carpet out from under several existing alliances, writes China Daily.

The recently merged China Cosco Shipping Corporation is in the midst of negotiations with French container carrier CMA CGM for an alliance which is also courting Taiwan's Evergreen as well as Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) from Hong Kong. If these four end up in a new alliance, the move would decimate the existing alliances in O3, CKYHE and G6, reports China Daily.
