The period from January to July brought 47 registered attacks on vessels in Asian waters. Although piracy and other attacks are still occurring, the development marks a decrease of 63 percent from the same period last year. This is thus the lowest number of attacks registered over the five-year period in which Recaap Information Sharing Centre has been collecting statistics on piracy, according to a new report from the information center for July.
