Bimco: Newbuilding contracts at lowest level in 20 years

There are strong indications that 2016 will see the fewest newbuilding contracts in two decades. This is good news for bulk and container carriers, says industry association Bimco.

Shipyards may well be the next victims of the crisis which has hit the bulk and container markets. 2016 looks set to take the record for the fewest number of newbuilding contracts signed in two decades. This is, however, good news for bulk and container carriers, notes shipping association Bimco in a new analysis.
