Panama Canal contractors are demanding more money

The authorities in Panama risk that the bill for the Panama Canal expansion may grow three times its original size due to demands from the Spanish construction consortium which was hired for the job.

The Spanish-headed consortium of contractors, which carried out the expansion of the Panama Canal, are potentially looking to demand billions of dollars in additional construction expenses from the canal authorities in Panama, according to several media outlets referring to the Spanish newspaper El Pais, which published the numbers.
