Construction of controversial port motorway in Hamburg can begin

The construction of a ”port passage” south of Hamburg can go ahead, an authority has decided. However, environmental groups are continuing efforts to prevent the road construction.

After years of legal wrangling, construction can begin on a new highway link that supporters say is crucial for Hamburg to maintain its position as a major port and logistics hub, reports media outlet NDR, among others.
