Khamenei warns UK's seizure of Iran tanker will not go unanswered

Following the UK's seizure of an Iranian supertanker at the Strait of Gibraltar due to suspicion of its oil cargo having been bound for a Syrian refinery, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vows to retaliate to the UK's vessel seizure, which Khamenei calls "piracy".

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the UK's seizure of an Iranian oil tanker this month was an act of piracy, warning that it will not be left unanswered by the Islamic Republic.

In his first comments on the UK’s actions in the Strait of Gibraltar, Khamenei said "the evil British" attempted to cover up their "crime" of stealing an Iranian vessel, according to comments shown Tuesday on state television.
