New environmental requirements send fuel prices soaring

The IMO's new environmental requirements contribute heavily to raising prices on low-sulfur fuel, according to interest group Bimco.

During the past month, prices on fuel with low sulfur contents have sky-rocketed.

Between early December and January, low-sulfur fuel has risen to USD 710 per ton in Singapore, corresponding to a 30-percent increase, show new figures from interest organization Bimco.
