US introduces new round of sanctions on Iranian oil companies

Iran's state-owned oil company and the country's biggest tanker operator have been blacklisted by the US. A series of companies have also been sanctioned for transporting Iranian oil to Venezuela.

The US has again introduced sanctions against a series of state-owned oil companies in an attempt to hit the country's economy.

National Iranian Oil Company and ship operator National Iranian Tanker Company have both been blacklisted by the US, as the Trump government says that money from the companies is used to finance military unit Quds Force, which is part of the country's Revolutionary Guard, reports Reuters.
