More seafarers vaccinated against Covid-19

The number of seafarers trapped aboard vessels beyond the expiry of their contracts has gone down slightly, as more seafarers are being vaccinated, show new estimates obtained from major shipmanagers by Neptune Declaration.

The crew change crisis appears to be stabilizing slightly after months of gradual deterioration, reports initiative Neptune Declaration, which compiles data from ten of the world's major ship management companies which account for more 90,000 seafarers across all segments in shipping.

Recent figures show that the number of seafarers stuck aboard their vessels beyond the expiry of their contracts declined from 9.0 percent to 8.9 percent in August.
