EU may be opening up regarding shipbreaking in South East Asia

The EU is apparently keeping the door open to shipbreaking yards in South East Asia with a proposal that may end the many months of deadlock that has hindered yards such as Alang in gaining scrapping approvals.

The European Commission now seems to want to break the deadlock between the EU and India which has blocked yards in Alang, for instance, from entering the EU’s list of approved shipbreaking yards.
