Labor union accuses P&O of paying new staff less than GBP 2 per hour

P&O Ferries is accused of taking advantage of new employees, who, according to a labor union, are paid less than GBP 2 an hour – far below the minimum wage. P&O, which slashed 800 workers last week without notice, deems the number ”inaccurate,” according to the BBC.

Ferry operator P&O Ferries, which Thursday last week sacked 800 employees in order to replace them with a cheaper workforce, aims to pay new staff less than GBP 2 per hour, writes British labor union The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) in a press release.
