OECD: Questionable whether state support for shipping benefits society

Maersk paid 3 percent in taxes in 2022, while Hapag-Lloyd contributed with 1 percent despite historic profit.

While carriers are reaping billion-dollar profits that are basically tax free thanks to state support schemes and distribute enormous dividends to shareholders, it is difficult to see how society gains from the support to the shipping industry.
