Taiwan risk makes carriers look for alternatives to Chinese yards and banks

Shipowners in Europe have quietly begun searching for alternatives to China’s shipyards and financial institutions, several shipping banks divulge.

The risk of a conflict between China and the US over Taiwan is now so serious that European carriers have started looking for alternative options to Chinese shipyards and banks in relation to construction of new vessels, according to several sources across shipping banks.
