Stormgeo opens the door to a new office in the Philippine capital, Manila, with the aim of improving long-term collaborations with customers in Asia Pacific, reads an announcement from the company, which is owned by Swedish technology group Alfa Laval.

”The launch of our Manila office emphasizes our commitment to the APAC [Asia Pacific] region,” says Petty Leung, Managing Director of Shipping Services at Stormgeo.

”I am especially pleased that our extensive maritime expertise in Asian time zones enhances our ability to meet our customers’ needs and foster closer relationships with all our customers, partners, and stakeholders in Asia Pacific,” she adds.

Stormgeo develops IT solutions for optimizing fuel consumption on ships, and according to the group’s CEO, Tom Erixon, Stormgeo’s products had record growth in 2022.

With the expansion, Stormgeo now has offices in seven locations in the region, in Manila, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Taiwan, Tokyo and Seoul.

Manila has been chosen as the company’s newest location because the shipping industry is a significant business in the Philippines, where 90 percent of all trade is transported at sea.

As part of the expansion, Michael Krch will be appointed as Operations Manager for the region. He joined Stormgeo back in 2008.

Alfa Laval acquired Stormgeo back in 2021 for the equivalent of DKK 2.7bn (USD 395m) to complement the maritime business.
