German seafarers bag wage increase with new collective agreement

The biggest pay rise ”in many years” has been achieved for German seafarers after negotiations with shipping companies.

German seafarers have secured a total wage increase of 10.5% in a collective bargaining agreement between trade union Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (ver.di) and the German shipping association, Verband Deutscher Reeder (VDR).
