UAE praised for extensive ban on beaching and reflagging

From June 2025, the United Arab Emirates will ban beaching and circumvention of regulations where ships are reflagged in the UAE prior to demolition.

Last week, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) introduced new shipbreaking rules that prohibit so-called beaching, where ships are sailed directly onto beaches in countries such as Bangladesh or Pakistan to be dismantled on site.
