DNV GL prepares for a "storm" in coming months

DNV GL turns to temporary furloughs due to the coronavirus crisis. "We cannot wait for the storm without taking temporary measures," CFO Thomas Vogth-Eriksen tells ShippingWatch. The company is prepared to postpone inspections on vessels and declare force majeure.

In a very short time span, the coronavirus outbreak has completely changed the outlook at DNV GL, which otherwise exited 2019 with significant progress.

The classification company started 2020 off with a decent order intake and planned to increase the number of employees slightly this year, but the current situation could end up leading to initiatives such as sending people home on temporary furlough, explains CFO Thomas Vogth-Eriksen in an interview with ShippingWatch.
