Norwegian shipyard hit by cyber attack

Shipyard Vard was hit by a cyber attack at the end of May. Following the attack, employees have received a text message saying that temporary dismissals may be necessary, according to a Norwegian media.

Norwegian yard group Vard has been hit by a cyber attack that could trigger temporary dismissals at the company, reports Norwegian newspaper Nordre.

The attack took place over the holiday weekend May 31 and June 1 and involves a so-called cryptovirus. Norwegian media have not been able to get a comment from Vard, but the yard group's Italian owner, Fincantieri, confirms the attack.
