Maritime satellite giant acquired by Viasat in huge deal

Inmarsat, which is not least known for satellite communications in the maritime sector, is being acquired by Viasat in a deal exceeding USD 7 billion.

With an offer of USD 7.3 billion, US communications company Visat is taking over British Inmarsat, which has substantial operations in the maritime sector.

The news is reported by Viasat in a New York stock exchange announcement issued Monday.
