Desmi ballast water system approved for freshwater

Danish Desmi Ocean Guard's ballast water system becomes the first ever to receive approval for all salinities - from brackish water to freshwater - from the US Coast Guard, says the company.

The hard work was worthwhile, says the Danish supplier of ballast water cleaning systems, Desmi Ocean Guard. The company has just received an AMS (Alternative Management Systems) approval from the US Coast Guard, approving its OxyClean system for use in all salinities, from brackish water to freshwater.

"This is the first time the US Coast Guard has released an AMS acceptance that covers all salinities. This proves that all the hard work and challenges associated with having our OxyClean system specifically designed and approved for use also in fresh water was worthwhile," writes Desmi Ocean Guard in a press release, referring to the fact that all previous acceptances have not been valid in freshwater.
