Finnish subcontractor Wärtsilä has now secured another approval for the company's systems for cleaning ballast water, this time for the Aquarius EC system, which has been approved by the UN's maritime organization, the IMO, says Wärtsilä in a press release.

The approval was attained in collaboration with the Netherlands, as flag state, as well as independent testing facilities and the Lloyds Register classification society. The approval marks an important step on the way to securing the approval of the US Coast Guard, USCG.
