Wärtsilä secures key IMO approval

The IMO has approved Wärtsilä's ballast water system Aquarius EC for use on ships. The approval comes shortly after the IMO adopted a resolution for the ballast water convention.

Finnish subcontractor Wärtsilä has now secured another approval for the company's systems for cleaning ballast water, this time for the Aquarius EC system, which has been approved by the UN's maritime organization, the IMO, says Wärtsilä in a press release.
