New German-Finnish shipyard moving closer

The family-owned German shipbuilder Meyer is locked in advanced negotiations with the Finnish government to acquire STX Europe’s shipyard in Turku. The parties seem close to reaching an agreement.

Following the collapse of STX Europe, leading to the closing of the major Finnish yard in Rauma, the Finns have put their faith in Meyer Werft, a German company located close to the Dutch border, hoping it would come to the rescue of STX’s other major yard in Turku.
