Before the end of the year, one in ten employees will have lost their jobs at Norwegian oil service company Aker Solutions. More than ten percent of the company's global workforce will be laid off this year, informs Aker Solutions in the group's third quarter interim report.

The company thus joins the slipstream of the numerous announced layoffs in recent weeks and months, most recently with Maersk Line's announcement yesterday, Wednesday, that the carrier plans to axe 4,000 land-based jobs over the next two years, while the Maersk Group's offshore carrier Maersk Supply Service informed that 200 employees employees will be laid off in November. Maersk Supply Service has already fired 160 employees after the summer.
