
The past few years have been turbulent for the suppliers of ballast water management systems. A lack of ratification of the ballast water convention has for years kept a lid on the market, and now another obstacle has emerged.
The US Coast Guard (USCG) this week rejected the test method that several manufacturers of ballast water management systems - including Denmark's Desmi Ocean Guard - has used as documentation to the USGC in order to have their products type approved for the US market.
