HSH Nordbank's debt portfolio for non-performing loans, including shipping loans, is interesting for Deutsche bank, which according to Reuters is among the 20 companies planning to bid on the portfolio.
"It could be an asset play for Deutsche where they pick up the debt and sell it on subsequently. This whole process is still at an early stage," one source tells Reuters.
HSH Nordbank's portfolio of non-performing shipping loans consists of at least EUR 500 million.
Deutsche Bank and HSH Nordbank both decline to comment on Reuters' information.
