South Korean yards save their way to profits

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Hyundai Heavy Industries have both delivered large profits in the first quarter. According to local media, the improvement is largely attributed to comprehensive streamlining efforts.

The South Korean shipbuilding industry, which makes up a critical part of the country's economy, has battled with huge problems in recent years while the government has been forced to step in and lend a helping hand.
