Topaz Energy joins forces with equity fund

Standard Chartered Private Equity invests USD 75 million in Topaz Energy and secures a 10 percent stake. The carrier will use the capital to enter new markets, says CEO René Kofod-Olsen.

Topaz Energy and Marine, based in Dubai and headed by former Maersk executive René Kofod-Olsen, has made a deal with private equity fund Standard Chartered Private Equity (SCPE). The deal will make the fund a shareholder in the company.
