Hapag-Lloyd expects significantly better operating result for 2018

The merger with UASC boosted the results of Hapag-Lloyd in 2017, where the operating profit more than tripled. "We remain cautiously optimistic," says CEO Rolf Habben Jansen of the prospects for the container market.

The effects of the merger with UASC were highly evident at Germany's Hapag-Lloyd, which in 2017 more than tripled its operating profit (EBIT) to EUR 411 million against EUR 126 million in 2016, according to the final annual report from the liner company, published today Wednesday. Hapag-Lloyd published preliminary results in February.
