Unifeeder sale could kick off new consolidation

DP World's acquisition of Unifeeder could help launch a corresponding process in Asia with Hutchison, PSA and Cosco as drivers, notes analyst after Tuesday's transaction. The concentration of port and shipping interests has acquired a new dimension.

It only took a few months to settle the negotiations between Dubai-based DP World and Danish-owned Unifeeder, even though there were several other interested buyers.

According to ShippingWatch's sources, funds, private equity companies as well as other stakeholders in the container industry contacted the sellers, Nordic Capital.

3i buys AMP out of Esvagt

Private equity firm 3i, which owns half of carrier Esvagt, has agreed with the company's second owner, AMP Capital, to take over all of Esvagt for GBP 268 million, making 3i the sole owner. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.
