Alphaliner: Maersk Line and MSC could expand cooperation

New constellations on the container services from the Far East to South America will have consequences for Maersk Line and MSC, which on the other hand can exploit the opportunity to expand their cooperation in the 2M alliance.

The new collaboration between Hapag-Lloyd, Hamburg Süd, CMA CGM and China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL), for the service between the Far East and South America, will have consequences for the four carriers' existing partnerships on these services, with Maersk Line and MSC as the hardest hit, according to Alphaliner, Tuesday.

Maersk Line currently cooperates with the four carriers on the services between the Far East and South America's East Coast, just as MSC currently cooperates with Hamburg Süd, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd as well.
